This epicurean representation is certainly one of the motivations of the attraction of Gérard Oury Dufy works. But, above all, it was well known. Danièle Thompson tells that, somehow, Dufy "was part of the family, as a great-uncle. "My grandmother, who had been what would today be called the press officer of the couturier Paul Poiret, attending many of the artists but in Dufy with whom she had a binding , she liked the man and the artist." In 1965, it will also publish a book tribute which is intended, called "Letter to my painter", composed of a collection of texts and quotes from Chagall, Villon, Masson... "She lived until her death in 1980, in the same building of the rue de Courcelles as his only son, with whom she had a strong relationship. The granddaughter says that tables were invariably one apartment to the other. Itself has visited tiny workshop Dufy, impasse Guelma, at the foot of Montmartre, in the company of his grandmother. "Before the visit, she wanted to make me realize that I wasn't in anyone, nothing is more admirable than an artist." I saw him, sieve of articular rheumatism, brushes attached to the fingers by his loyal assistant. One day, I remember, my grandmother went mad with joy. "Finally, I will have"The race"." "I received a payment in several times." At home, the works were crammed with each other on the walls. The collection of my father is a continuation of the maternal passion.
